Front-End Analysis Report: Caring For Kittens Without Moms
Context & conditions — Caring for kittens without mom’s evaluation was done to analyze and evaluate what information was needed. This was completed in fall 2021. I am the SME for this project as a kitten bottle feeding foster and have knowledge that could be shared to save kitten lives.
Scope — This was created to save kitten lives. This was done to access what was needed. It was created with the Lancaster LSPCA in mind. This is one of two pieces for this unit.
Role — I was solely responsible for this evaluation project. I was the designer, developer, and the SME.
Instructional Design — This project introduced me to the different kinds of needs and evaluation options. Felt and express need were very important. Development and design were key to keeping this project focused on the goals and not getting sidetracked. The project was designed to give the most necessary information in the least amount of time possible. (Morrison, 2019) (Richard, 2018)

This project addressed AECT standards 3 and 4. It was created using the evaluation of what was needed to achieve its goals. Learner background and ethics were used to effectively enable the creation of learning material for this project. (AECT, 2012)
Reflection — In August 2021 I started my journey with Dr. Arslan Ari in EDET 722. I learned about the Morrison, Ross, and Kemp model of learning along with ADDIE. These were all new concepts to me coming from a retail background of 20 years. I learned why a needs assessment is important in establishing what can be used to address the level of instruction needed as well as what the difference between types of needs. I wrote my first business style report in the class with my Front-End Analysis paper. All while overcoming taking care of my husband’s grandfather who needed someone to stay with him as a 24-hour hospice caretaker. It was one of the most rewarding firsts to be able to do this and create my first learning module ever. I learned so much in this class with what I could achieve. Looking back on the Front-End Analysis report and the Caring For Kittens Without Mom’s learning module
Smith and Ragan Model
Context & conditions — The Smith and Ragan model was created in the Spring of 2023. It was created in Lancaster South Carolina. This project looked at a different learning module than we have utilized in the past. It allowed me to compare this model style to MRK and ADDIE.
Scope — The goal of this project is to help others learn about the Smith and Ragan model. This was created for a school project. This project is the final piece of the project for this unit.
Role — I was solely responsible for this project’s design and development. I was not the SME for this project on the universal design side. I was the learning SME for this project.
Instructional Design — In this project I set goals to help design and develop content that would assist instructors. (Morrison, 2019) (Richard, 2018)

This project is reflected in the AECT standards 4. It required a theoretical foundation to research and understand the material before evaluating and designing the project. (AECT, 2012)
Reflection —This project was a new learning model for me. It was nice to see a learning model I hadn't been exposed to before. I honestly wish we had the opporitunity to look at some of the other models out there and grow in the variety of what models we use to create. The Smith and Ragan model has a lot of strong attributes and can be very beneficial. The only change I would make would be more time to develop this project further.
